1. Introduction
While walking through the isles of CompUSA the other
day, I came across a new keyboard that caught my eye – the IBM Wireless
Navigator Pro keyboard. Now we all know that IBM historically makes great
keyboards (at least they used to) but this was unique. It was a RF (Radio
Frequency) based keyboard that also had an integrated pointing stick at
the upper right hand corner. The first thought that came to my head was
that this keyboard could be perfect for a Home Theater Personal Computer
environment. We tested the Gyration Ultra Keyboard/Mouse Suite a few months
back – how would this keyboard compare? Let’s find out shall
we?
1.1 The Package
The IBM Wireless Navigator Pro comes in a very standard
black IBM cardboard box. You would not be able to tell that this keyboard
was different from any other keyboard except for that the little joystick
like controller. Does anyone think of the Thinkpad TrackPoint device?
Inside the box, you have your normal packaging that almost all vendors
use nowadays.
